Joy Yoon

Joy Yoon (b.1997) is a pianist, vocalist, and a composer as a first year B.M. Music Composition student at the University of Texas at Austin. She has pursued her career in music since 6 years old. She has worked with Sungjung Cultural Foundation under their musical theatre department for 2 years, and later attended Kaywon School of Arts, South Korea, as Jazz drum-set major. She was a member of Joy Life choir and Orchestra, as a soprano and a flutist and had participated in several performances in South Korea. Upon moving to the U.S., she has participated in numerous ensembles as a vocalist, flutist and a percussionist. She has won the Austin Symphony Orchestra Young Composers Completion in 2015 and had a privilege to perform her orchestral piece by the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Her work was also featured in the Golden Hornet’s first Student Composer concert that was held in March 2016. She studied piano with well-respected pianist Gordon Sparber for 4 years and composition under the instruction directed by Dr. Yevgeniy Sharlat at the University of Texas at Austin.
