Jake Wohleb

Jake Wohleb is eighteen years old from Austin, Texas where he graduated from James Bowie High School. He has arranged and composed many pieces that have been performed by different ensembles at Bowie including works for steel band, percussion ensemble, wind ensemble, and steel pan ensemble. In his junior year of high school, Jake’s first orchestral composition, Luminescence was a selected winner of the Texas Young Composers Contest and was performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra in April, 2015. The piece was performed again by the Austin Symphony at the Fourth of July Pops Concert in the following summer.

Jake is a a freshman music composition major at the University of Texas at Austin, where he has studied composition with respected composer Yevgeniy Sharlat, and percussion with Austin Symphony Orchestra Principal Timpanist Tony Edwards. In his free time, he enjoys exploring ATX, marching in the Longhorn Band, and playing with his many pets.
