Grace Ma

Grace Ma, a composition graduate from the University of British Columbia, Canada, has received numerous accolades for her versatile, eclectic, and imaginative works.

She has composed for voice, solo-instrumental, chamber, orchestra, electronics, and film, also featured in numerous major concert productions--including Danse, Lhasa, Danse at the Chan Centre, UBC (2014); Vancouver Pro Musica Further Series Electroacoustics Concert (2014); and twice at the West Coast Student Composers’ Symposium co-hosted by UBC, University of Victoria, and Simon Fraser University (2014 & 2015).

In 2016, Grace was selected to attend both the Orford Academy and the Atlantic Music Festival in Maine, USA. In 2014, her orchestral work was read by the Victoria Symphony under Maestra Tania Miller, 4 years after her debut as pianist in front of 40,000 spectators at Victoria's Inner Harbour. An emerging music scholar, Grace has presented research on 18th century music criticism and tonal-formal analysis of select keyboard pieces by Bach at international conferences in Holland (2013) and England (2014).
