Biography

Ryan Laney (b. 1989) is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music. His works have been heard at the soundSCAPE music festival in Italy, the UPBEAT festival in Croatia, and numerous venues throughout the United States. As a pianist, he has performed in a wide variety of musicals, operas, orchestras, jazz ensembles, rock bands, and chamber ensembles.

Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in physics from the College of William & Mary and is currently pursuing his master’s in composition at the University of Texas at Austin. His teachers have included Burton Hatheway, Greg Bowers, Yevgeniy Sharlat, Dan Welcher, Russell Pinkston, and Donald Grantham.
